Ijazah Programme
For female students. Recite the whole Quran to a scholar with sanad and receive an ijazah, by application.

An ijazah is a certificate granted by a qualified teacher after the student has recited the whole Quran to her with correct tajweed. It carries a sanad, the chain of teachers that links the student, teacher by teacher, to the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Dr. Uzma holds ijazah with sanad from scholars in Egypt in the qira'at of Asim, Ibn Kathir and Abu Ja'far, and in the riwayahs of Qalun 'an Nafi' and Hafs 'an Asim. Most students begin with Hafs 'an Asim.
Who can apply
- Fluent recitation
- You already read the Quran fluently and with correct tajweed.
- Reading or memory
- You can recite from the mushaf, or from memory if you are hafiz. Each leads to its own type of ijazah.
- Tajweed knowledge
- You know the main rules of tajweed. Studying a classical text such as al-Jazariyyah is usually part of the programme.
- Time and consistency
- You can give at least 2 hours a week and stay consistent until you finish.

- Dr. Uzma listens to your recitation and decides the starting point.
- Preparation if needed
- Some students begin directly, others first strengthen their tajweed or memorisation.
- Complete recitation
- You recite the whole Quran to Dr. Uzma, with corrections along the way.
- Ijazah
- The ijazah is granted when the teacher is satisfied that every requirement has been met.
Flexible and personal
These are the usual requirements. Every student is different, and Dr. Uzma makes the final decision about the starting point, the pace and what needs to be completed. The length of the programme depends on the student's level and consistency. The fee is $40 to $50 an hour, see fees.
